Does it matter where the pedometer is placed or attached?
The HJ-150 and 151 Pedometer must be positioned correctly. Attach the unit to your belt or to the top of your waistband. The unit must be horizontal to the ground in order for the unit to function correctly. The HJ-112 and HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer can also be placed in your pocket or purse.
What's the accuracy rate of Omron Pedometers?
The precision of the step counting is within +/- 5%.
What are moderate steps?
At least 30 minutes of moderate exercise is recommended each day. The HJ-151 Pedometer separately displays the steps and minutes walked at a moderate pace.
What are aerobic steps?
The HJ-112 and HJ-720ITC Pocket Pedometer separately displays aerobic steps and minutes that start counting after 10 minutes of continuous walking with more than 60 steps a minute.

This semi-automatic gives the same readings as a more costly automatic. I compared my readings on this machine with the more expensive automatic that Granny uses. Almost identical readings. It stores the latest pressure readings in memory and gives an accurate pulse. You can order it on line or possibly find it locally for less. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 since it took a few tries to get the band set the correct way. You don't need to undo the arm band velcro once you have it set for your arm size. Stay healthy!

I haven't had the chance to check it at the doctor's office but have compared it to the store BP testers. They are comparable as far as readings go. There's no more difference in the Panasonic's reading than to back to back readings on those store testers. I can almost predict what the reading will be after two on the store, taking that difference/drop, subtract it from the last reading and then using the Panasonic. I have a rare condition that taxes my body a bit so a lot depends on how I got to the store tester .... walking or scooter or wheelchair. If I can I'll add on the comparison once I get to the doc's office.I am displeased reading the description.

Fortunately it came with an AC adapter and my need for batteries is rare with the adapter.Overall, it works well for me and the price was good also.

I have been using the EW3109ACW since Dec. '08' 3 to 5 times per week.

- I've had Ormon's before and they're very noisy & cumbersome. This unit is much quieter & streamlined.

- I especially like the cuff which formed & easier to put on. The Ormon's is bulkier and floppy.

- The accuracy is right on (compared with Doctor's office unit).

- It will log the readings so I can enter them to my computer for record keeping.

- I've had the same batteries in the unit since purchase and they're still working. I bought this unit with the AC adaptor but I don't think anyone needs the adaptor. The same unit without the adaptor is on sale for $29 less on Amazon. Save your money.

- Keep taking your BP meds and monitor results. You can take your BP printed record to your doctors so he/she has good historical info. IT'S YOUR HEART!!!

I tried and and tried to make this monitor work. I really wanted it to work, however after much frustration I decided to return it. I consistently got and "error" message each and every time I tried and it didn't matter what I did. I used both the large and medium cuffs, I repositioned the cuff all over my arm. I made sure the cuff was completely deflated between attempts, I set up the date and time thinking that might make a difference. I even installed new batteries, but nothing worked. After several hours of frustration I gave up. This unit was certainly not going to help my blood pressure along!

This is a decent product, especially for the price but there is only one problem...The unit is discontinued. Samsung still offers customer support (which is sometimes difficult to get in contact with) for the Blood Pressure/Pulse Monitor which is great considering I had to troubleshoot some issues I was having with the unit upon arrival, which did get resolved. Samsung eliminated the entire "Healthy Living" line due to the economy, which a Samsung rep confirmed. I purchased this for my grandfather who needs to have his blood pressure and pulse monitored regularly. The cuffs which are included with the unit are not soft cuffs like you would find at a doctors office, they are partially formed with a flexible plastic type of material that forms around your arm to offer a more snug and precise fit. One problem, they do not work well on all arms, but do work well on most. I have tested these cuffs on my arm and some other family memebers arm and received reasonable results. After contacting Samsungs customer support they decided to send a soft cuff (which is an optional piece) free of charge as they are aware these cuffs do not work properly on all arms. I have yet to test it out next to a machine at the doctors office to compare but when I do, I will update this review with my findings to inform on the accuracy. It is very user friendly and the large display is perfect for people who cant see well or just in general.

Such a bulky display panel though quite useful for recording the blood pressure. The cuffs are not particularly well made and the diagram on the cuff is quite inconsistent. The readings are not entirely accurate, depending on how to align the blood pressure cuff though the fit is snug and quite comfortable. The air hose connecting the cuff itself into the port at the side of the monitor, always get tangled so it is daunting enough to keep an eye on it to prevent the display from moving too close to the edge of the bedside table. No matter how much time I try to align the cuff, the display shows the 'high' pressure reading so I was confused to what my blood pressure really is. I like the product, but I am returning it to try out some other blood pressure monitor for myself out of concern for monitoring my blood pressure accuracy. The added advantage to this product is the AC power cord which is included so you don't have to waste your time buying the batteries if the battery supply runs dry. I have yet to see how consumer's report rate this product due to accuracy and ease of usage.

I am a young slender woman with skinny wrists, maybe that is the cause of the problem I have with this device. I have unstable blood pressure and this device has alot of difficulty reading my BP. I get alot of Err 1 or Err 2 when trying to get a reading even though I am perfectly still. When it actually CAN get a reading it is usually 10 points higher than my doctor's monitors. This is with new batteries and with the device strapped on as instructed.I do not recommend it if your BP is constantly high and you keep a close eye on it. There are times I suddenly get a headache and when I try to get a reading the machine CONSTANTLY fails over and over again, on either hand, strapped tight or loose, doesnt seem to make a difference.

First of all, avoid eating, smoking, and exercising for at least 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Stress raises blood pressure, so avoid taking measurements during stressful times. Also, measurements should be taken in a quiet place. You should be in a relaxed, seated position with your feet flat on the floor. Before you take your measurement, rest comfortably in a relaxed environment for at least 15 minutes. Place the cuff over your left wrist with your left thumb facing upwards. Position the unit leaving approximately 0.5-inches of space between the edge of the cuff and your palm. Pull the cuff upward while holding the edge of the wrist cuff and wrap snugly. Make sure to lightly press the Velcro closure with your fingers so that it is fastened tightly.

We use these products in a prison system. Larger cuffs do not fit through the bars, nor do many of the inmate's arms. These units are very handy to obtain relaible vital signs (I spent alot of time comparing the reading to routine BP cuffs. They were very compatible in the range as long as you followed instructions) It also beats holding out someone's arm and have an inmate try to get it close to your breast as you try to help him hold a stable position. That doesn't happen with these cuffs. I expect to see more of these in the future..they are less painfull and much easier to haul around with you. Try one and see what you thnk.

This blood pressure cuff is easy to use, and is made of good materials with a couple provisos:

1. The fit of the hose to the gauge head is too loose, and the gauge can drop off and fall in handling. This is not a good thing, as that is the most breakable part.

2. The tail end of the cuff that fits through the flat ring does not have a large enough retainer and will slip loose too easily, making the cuff awkward to apply one-handed for self-monitoring.
3. The fabric of the cuff also slips too easily in the flat ring, twisting the cuff on the arm.

4. The pressure screw on the pump bulb is very touchy, though usable.

While this item was exactly as advertised, and is a very good value, I think the seller is in apathy regarding shipping.They seemed to have absolutely NO idea of when the product would arrive and gave a time frame of four weeks for it to get here. Their method of wrapping it for shipping also showed an appalling lack of professionalism.In short, while the product gets an ok the seller gets an I-don't-think-I'll take-a-chance-on-them-again

Most recommendations for self-test blood pressure devices these days suggest a digital meter, probably because the aneroid ones are just a little bit tricky to use. The cheaper simpler aneroid devices like this one will work well for self-test so long as they have a 'D Ring' (which this one does) ...but figuring it out isn't always drop-dead simple. I was initially flummoxed, and had to refer to other sources of instruction on the web before I got the whole picture. The addition of something as simple as a line drawing (better yet a picture) would help a lot. The instructions say "Slip the cuff up your...arm, placing the bottom edge..." Turns out the 'bottom edge' is the one with the tubes. The instructions say "...position the marking..." Turns out the correct 'mark' is the 'left arm' arrow or the 'right arm' arrow, not the one that says 'index' and not the one that says 'range'. The instructions say "Slip the chest piece of the stethoscope under the cuff...". Expand this very literally to mean the stethoscope should stay under the cuff by itself (else you won't have enough hands). And obviously pump with the _other_hand -not the one with the cuff around it- even though that's not explicitly stated."

This turned out to be a great purchase; I'm very pleased with it. ADC's palm sprage is comfortable and easy-to-use. There is less tubing to deal with, which means less noise is being made while you're using the steth. The stethoscope is a good quality steth. I've noticed that it picks up light sounds, even in a noisy clinic (this steth is being used for BP only), and it feels much more substantial than some of the steths that come with combo kits. The kit includes 3 types of earpieces, a couple bells and diaphrams, and a nice nylon case with a name tag.

This product consistently read my diastolic reading approximately 30 mm too low, although it was very consistent, always giving about the same reading. I took it to my Dr's office and checked it against their readings. The systolic was about right, but the diastolic was 30 low. Several readings were taken to confirm this. I have carefully read the instructions for cuff placement and could find nothing wrong with the way I was using the product.I gave this 2 rather than 1 stars since it was consistently giving the same reading. Maybe this particular unit was bad and others might do better. I think I'm going to give up an digital measurement and go with a completely manual product where you use a stethoscope.

I was looking for a less expensive, less bells and whistles, yet accurate blood pressure monitor. This one fits the bill. It is an old fashioned stethoscope and blood pressure cuff and gauge so you are the one listening for the reading and able to follow the needle on the gauge instead of only being given a digital readout. It's a little like having an actual oil gauge for your car instead of just having a light that is either on or off. The gauge has an automatic airflow valve that lets the air release from the cuff at an even pace without having to adjust a screw while trying to manipulate the rest of the equipment. The cuff has both a right and left arm adjustable velcro closure with an indicator line drawn for the needed fit. Great product.

I have moderate hearing loss - yet the stethoscope integrated with the handcuff sounded crisp and loud enough to get a precise reading. I find the dial to be smaller and more difficult to read than a Japanese made instrument I had earlier. It would have made the instrument even more convenient to use and read. Overall, I would rate the instrument - Good.

It's fairly inexpensive, and does what it's supposed to do. The stethoscope isn't the greatest quality (I've used much better), but it does pick up the Korotkoff sounds just fine. My only gripe is that I wish the carrying case were larger - it's difficult to get the cuff in the case once all of the pieces are assembled. Just look at the size of the stethoscope earpiece and the size of the case it's laying on and you'll see why it's difficult.

I bought this to substitute a defective hospital unit. I researched Sony rechargable batteries and found BOTH thier batteries and rechargher unit to be the best buy for this unit. This unit takes very accurate measurements and stores many readings. DRAWBACK. It needs a lighted display. Other than that, great product. The cuffs are sturdy and the connection to to main pump unit is solid and dosen't leak. I take between 20-40 readings per day.

In times of stress & emergencies no one has time to fool around with an old fashioned blood pressure cuff waiting for a reading (which might be inaccurate). A family member had purchased this item & told me it was a godsend. He was right. It actually "talks" to you & gives complete blood pressure info (reading & pulse). I would never go back to using the cuff. It was a bit tricky to set up the machine but if one follows the directions it can be working immediately. The price was also very reasonable but you also have to have batteries. We use it frequently. Even our family doctor likes this machine. It is especially excellent for a person with poor eyesight.

I bought this item not only because it is purple and purple is my favorite color, but because the reviews on it were so good. I know a lot of BP cuffs are alike and there isn't on thing that really makes one stand out better than the others, however, with this one, you can put your stethoscope in the pouch along with the BP cuff! I LOVE that. My other one wouldn't allow that. This one also has a front pocket to put little things in too. I love the color as it's a bit on the "shiny" side...silly, i know, but it's the little things that make me happy :-)

A lifetime calibration warranty is useless if the thing comes apart.

I love this monitor it's perfect for me. I took it to my doctor's office to check it for it's accuracy and the nurse said that it was avrage. What I like about it is that it will detect arrhythmias. Another feature I like about it is that if i want to get an adaptor for it I can.one thing about it is that does not have a memory for storing past readings that would be a nice feature but for me I don't need it I log every reading in to an excel spread sheet that I print out for my doctor. So this monitor is perfect for me.

My old A&D starting acting erratically after 5 years of loyal service. This is listed by British Hypertension Society and the Dabl Educational Trust, the 2 organizations that keep track of independent tests of these kind of devices. I distrust customer reviews that claim accuracy/inaccuracy based on comparison with their doctor's results. Such comparisons are actually quite difficult to do scientifically and who knows if the doctor's results are accurate. The cuff is OK for my medium+ arm size. It does not come with 2 cuffs. The tube attaches firmly to the machine and the cuff has printed instructions. The monitor is easy to read. Nothing fancy, just diastolic, systolic and pulse. My wife has a much smaller arm and uses it easily. It is made in China (Microlife is a Swiss company) just as my old A&D was, and seems very well made. A bargain at this price.

If you can get pass the manual pumping you'll find that this product is very solid and very accurate. I checked it against my wrist monitor that was checked and found accurate at the doctor's office. Wanted a monitor that gave me the closest feeling to checking my blood pressure at the Doctor's office being that I have White Coat Hypertension. Definitely not disappointed. This really works.

When I got this bp monitor, it worked the first time I used it. When I tried it a week later, it would not get a reading, just count down as it deflated every time. I thought it was me, so i tried it on my brother, it did not work on him. I finally got it to work on my mom, after the fourth try. I was very disappointed in this product, I did not trust the readings even when it worked.

I bought the Panasonic Blood Pressure Monitor, and took it to my doctor to see how it compared to his measurement. He showed me that I wasn't quite using it correctly, and said that I needed a bigger cuff -- so I ordered this item, the large cuff.It works fine, as expected. The only problem is that the instruction says the bottom of the cuff should be about an inch above the elbow -- but the cuff is so long that I can barely get it above my elbow at all.In any case, it still gives accurate readings, so I really can't complain.

Well made and documented. But not accurate enough for me, so I donated to Goodwill. Am nut on BP monitors and have gone through many over past few years. Went to A&D brand based on experience with several models that were always close to what got the traditional way at doc's office. Wanted wrist model to use at gym, but gave up when readings varied from close to same, to 20 percent higher than my current A&D upper arm model, with no apparent reason for the variation. Pulse rate was always close to upper arm model reading, however. Placement of cuff relative to wrist was touchy, to say the least, and had a major effect on reading got,but again, I could not see a consistency of reading versus cuff placement. I recommend the upper arm models. I have had several A&D models and all worked fine and were close to my doctor's mercury tube model's readings. I choose based upon features I want.

"Failure of Microlife Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor" 2010-02-11

Several years ago I bought this product from Hammacher Schlemmer. It was excellent until the beginning of this year when it would start the process and then suddenly fail and show an x mid-screen. NO blood pressure reading. I replaced the batteries, of course. Still it failed. Went to Amazon.com and found the same model, about $20 less than the earlier price. Ordered and received it. Now, just a few weeks after I began using it, it is already showing the x mid-screen and failing. This means I have to dig out the purchase records and return it to Hammacher Schlemmer, who, in their most recent catalog have a NEWER version that is much more expensive! I'm 89, do NOT enjoy this process one bit. DISAPPOINTED! is a mild word for it....

USB driver very poor. Multiple tries needed to connect, then, if you are very lucky, it will connect. Bought unit in 2008. Complained to customer service about lousy USB software support. Got a run-around. Now, over 6 months later, no driver upgrades or any software upgrades online. One work-around: export patient history. Reinstall everything from scratch including USB driver and maybe you'll get a connection. If so, then re-import patient data and proceed to update from BP monitor - if you are very lucky! I tell you, this terrible software will GIVE you high blood pressure. Totally clunky and behind the times. Would not be acceptable in non-critical toys such as the cheapest digital camera which can typically easily move photos from camera memory to PC via USB. But this so-called medical device can't even do that! Conclusion: the manufacturer doesn't care about user friendliness. That the cuff gives an accurate reading is pretty cold comfort if you can't get the data off the cuff and into the PC for analysis. I am sorry I bought the thing... May I suggest you avoid it if you want to put the data on your PC for historical analysis. Better spend $20 for the old-fashioned BP cuff and write the readings on a yellow pad... Less aggravation.

I was looking forward to the convenience of this wrist unit, and the ability to download scores, but I found it reads too high consistently. Microlife even replaced it quickly with a new one, but it also reads too much higher than my arm cuff unit. I will only use it in an emergency and will subtract 10-20 points from the BP values. (Also if the battery expires, you lose all the readings and settings.)

I had ordered this product from Amazon and when I went back to the LifeSouce web site to download the FREE program that goes with it I found that it will NOT work with a Vista OS, anyother OS would be fine. I was unable to purchase this item due to the fact that I have a Vista OS. I wrote to LifeSource and they were unsure when a new program will become available for a Vista OS.I currently have a LifeSource B/P system but wanted to upgrade to this new one that will keep track of my B/P on my computer, so as far as rating LifeSource products I have to be fair and give it 5 stars.LifeSource UA-851THW Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor. The reviews given for the product may be totally inaccurate as far as the product is concerned. Any electronic B/P monitoring system is GENERALLY for one person only and usually for adults unless you special order a pediatric cuff or you need a larger cuff. The readings are automatically entered into the memory, so giving this product a 1 star is not a fair rating on the item itself.
Hint: if you use a larger cuff on a smaller arm (such as a very small boned person or child) it will give you a higher reading, thus a false reading. If you use a small or regular size cuff on a person that is large it will give you a lower reading, thus a false reading. So, if you are going to purchase an electronic B/P monitoring system or non-electronic B/P system make sure that you also obtain the right size cuff for the person that you need to use it on.

This is a one person device, if that is all you're looking for then it will meet your needs, but if you want to use it for the family/wife/husband then you have to purchase one for each user. - Once installed, software has limitations and the limitations are not printed either on the box or in the attached 19 pages manual.
- Customer support does not work on weekends.
- For four family members, you need to buy four blood pressure monitors. Once you try to create a second user in the software, and to enter the blood pressure monitor serial #, you get prompted with: "Please remember that each device can only be registered to one account. If a device is registered to another account you will need to remove it from that account before adding it to a new account".
I'm going to return mine.

i received this 24 hrs ago and half of the time i get error codes. i called customer service ( very friendly & helpful )and they informed me that they have had this problem before and recommended that i try it on my forearm due to the size of my arm. this worked a few time but if i checked after i was active it gave me a code 7&9m most of the time i got a code 3. in the book it gives code 3-5 as something wrong with the cuff and code 7-12 as something about being calm. that right only 2 errors with 9 codes. also didn't like this "D" ring to make it easier to put on, it makes the cuff fold over no it self. this my work for some people but not me! PS I HAVE AN 18 1/2" ARM

I needed this item for monitoring my blood pressure. It was easy, but the cuff is very hard to put on for one person. I have an error on the first time I try to take my blood pressure, then I re-wrap the cuff and it works the next time. The cuff is very, very accurate. I took my blood pressure, and the doctor took my blood pressure (his way) and the difference is so small the doctor told me that my blood pressure monitor is more accurate than his method.

Package arrived earlier than expected. That was the last good news! The "Mark of Fitness MF-87" did not live up to the hype. From the onset it would not inflate fully. Thought it was my batteries. Replaced with brand new Duracell Ultra. Got a couple of readings. Then it began to display "Error -2" error code (manual said it was a malfunctioned cuff). I hoped desperately that was not the case. Left it alone till next day. Same result. Left it alone for 2 more days. Same results: "Error -2". Finally gave up. Returning it for a refund. I have ordered the "OMRON HEM 790IT". It's pricier but has great reviews (4.5/5 from over 400 users) and comes with software disc that will help you upload blood pressure data to your computer, print graphs for your doctor, etc. Contemplated ordering the "OMRON HEM 670IT" but finally settled for the 790IT.

I really like this monitor. It works just fine for me. It uses 2 AAA batteries to work. It has a on and off button so you do not waste the battery. It has a memory that would keep for 2 people. It also has a guide on the right side that shows you that your arm is "OK" in the position it is in. If you do not see OK then it is not in the right location. It keeps the time for you and holds many of your past pressure readings. I would recommend this cuff to everyone. Also this cuff comes with a hard plastic storage case.

I just bought this after being worried that my resting heartrate was too fast. Turns out I am doing just fine. But with this unit I will take my blood pressure everyday and then look at my on screen graph after up to 30 days and see how it looks over time.
I was happily suprised at the quality of the unit. 4 simple buttons (any one of which will activate the appropriate feature from the off condition) make it easy to operate and figure out. It comes with batteries - a nice touch - and a study case with a clear cover. Here are three levels of help in the included documentation. A Get Started sheet, a FAQ fold out, and a thorough booklet (in 4 languages) with the important details.
On screen instructions help you through the process of actually getting your BP. You get systolic and diatolic (most only give you the former) as well as pulse readings. The on screen graph is unique to this unit and especially in this price range.

Bottom line: I am very happy with the purchase. The only other one I would purchase is the one at Wal-Mart that comes with a printer to give you a hard copy graph of your readings over time. But it costs $89.99 and gives you more components to worry about.

I'm not sure if that's normal or not.

PROS: 1: Although made in China, this unit appears to be very well-made;
2: The price is attractive compared to the competition;
3: The small size should make it attractive for use by joggers, walkers, etc. However, due to its drawbacks, I almost sent it back (see below). In fairness, the seller readily offered to take it back for a full credit (less my return shipping), but since I really wanted a truly portable unit I have reluctantly decided to keep it in spite of its limitations.
CONS: 1: My monitor is extremely sensitive to vertical location relative to the heart. It can give widely varying (40-80% different) BP readings when changing its vertical position by only an inch or two - likely a function of a less reliable input at the wrist location. Pulse readings seem accurate. For consistent readings, I `calibrated' the unit against a larger fixed unit to determine the precise elevation for BP accuracy, then must try to reproduce that each time for my use, a real pain.
2: My unit takes one full minute to provide a read-out, which is two or three times as long as a fixed unit, and very unhandy for road work - my main reason for buying the unit.
SUMMARY: Although I will keep my unit I can not in fairness recommend it to anyone else.

This has been a great purchase! The cuff is convenient and easy to use. I have owned the product for about one month now and have been impressed with the apparent durability and quality. The one feature that I especially appreciate is the manual inflation. Other cuffs with automatic inflate would seem to be constantly needing batteries. This model has batteries provided for the digital display and comes with a lifetime warranty. It is a great value and as a nurse I would highly recommend it!

Ordered this monitor to check my husband's BP every day, on doctor's orders. Simply didn't work. I had the feeling it was a returned item as the components were very sloppily wrapped and stuffed into the box. I could not get it to work - kept saying ERR. Had the visiting nurse try it and she also had no success.
Returned it to Amazon the next day.

I bought the LifeSource UA-853LAC Premium Digital Blood Pressure Monitor to help check my wife's blood pressure. When I ordered the Monitor, I was reading that the cuff was for arms of a certain diameter, so I ordered this small Lifesource cuff, figuring that was what I needed. The Monitor and Cuff both arrived, and sure enough, the Large cuff would not work on my wife - I tried a bunch of different times with no luck. (It worked just fine on my big old arm though.) No problem, I swapped out the big cuff with the small cuff and ran into more problems. The small cuff would not give a reading when on my wife's arm; either that or it would overinflate, and give an error. I tried numerous times in different positions on her arm (even her wrist), and also tried the original hose from the larg cuff, the different adapters, etc, but could not get the small cuff to work.
Perhaps if I worked in a Medical device repair/calibration shop I might have been able to figure out what was wrong.
LESSON 1: Do NOT buy a replacement cuff of a different size. You're better off buying a monitor with the correct cuff already on it.
LESSON 2: If you do purchase a monitor or cuff, open it and keep all packaging handy for a few days in case you need to return it. Unfortunately, I had tested the monitor on my arm, but didn't try the cuff until the next day - by which time I had already thrown away the boxes, wrapping, etc.

My old blood pressure tester was battery operated, and shortly after I sprang for a plug-in power supply it died. The reason I purchased this one was it had decent reviews and came with a power cube. I like this product. It seems to be accurate, although I don't have a way to confirm that. The only negative I've found so far is the hose is too short. You have to place the unit pretty close to where you are sitting. Another few inches would be helpful and cost pennies.

If you look up the description for LifeSource UA-280 Blood Pressure Monitor Cuff, that product description actually says Medium (9.4" - 14.2"). 9.4" - 14.2" is the correct size of the cuff that comes when you order the UA-767 monitor with medium cuff.

"Great, if you don't have low heart rate..." 2010-04-22

My heart rate when I had extremely high blood pressure was 180/95 consistently with a pulse of about 85-90 and a resting heart rate of about 65. The device was accurate when my heart rate was up in "normal" zones. After about 6 or 7 months, of being put on beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors to lower blood pressure. My heart rate become 50-60 range and my blood pressure was 135/85 consistently with a resting heart rate of about 45. I would take my BP every morning. As my heart rate started to reach the low 50s and below, it would CONSISTENTLY give an Irregular Heartbeat warning on EVERY time I used it. However, if my heart rate was EVER above 55ish during the day, it would never give this indicator. I tested this several times, several times a day. This device has caused nothing but anxiety for me as I did countless visits to the ER and family doctor and countless EKGs to determine if I had something wrong with my heart (other than my high BP obviously) everything came back normal. I've tried a couple other blood pressure machines that have Irregular Heartrate monitors and NONE of them have ever thrown a warning, even when my heartrate is 42-49 resting (early morning). This device originally cost me $103.00, but after all the hospital bill and doctor co-pays, it ended up costing about $3000.00. If you have a low resting heart rate or low heart rate ingeneral, DO NOT use this product, unless you can live with the Irregular Heartbeat warning showing up on each reading.

Originally purchased unit that advertised the unit came with a data computer cord and software or download software. Unit arrived without advertised cord or instruction to dowload and without disk. Upon complainimg the Livamed send me a male cord to fit a male attachment and charged me an extra 22 dollars and change for whaat it originally said it was included. I fell ripped off and had to make an ajustment to the machine to make the cord work and upload to my computer. Make suee that you get what you pay for from this company. Their wording has change somewhat since receiving the unit but still advise caution.

I have Atrial-Fibrillation, the irregular heartbeat feature plus pressure and pulse rate measurement indicated a very low blood pressure and a pulse rate of 176. The monitor in the ambulance yielded the same results. Shock therapy given at the hospital restored a normal pressure and pulse. When I purchased the item I was mainly interested in the three measurement accuracy. Had a heart attack after purchasing it, Atrial-Fibrillation occurred after the attack, this caused me to appreciate the irregular heart beat capability

I purchased a Wristech JB4630 in January '10. The device arrived promptly, in good order. It is compact, convenient, easy to use, and remarkably inexpensive. However, its readings are disturbing. I made several runs of measurements without changing position of my arm, and with my arm and the device positioned according to the manufacturer's instructions. One such run was 111/63, 114/62, 131/60, 112/61, 105/56, 111/62, and 115/57. Another was 123/70, 130/69, and 130/70. Still another 126/67 and 115/67. Sorry for all the numbers, but they illustrate the problem. The readings usually cluster around a definite value. For instance, in the first set, if you throw out the 'fliers' (105/62 and 131/60) the mean systolic pressure is 112.6 and the maximum deviation is 2.4 -- quite good. But what about those fliers? There is no way to decide ahead of time whether a result is valid or not. The only solution with this product appears to be to take at least three measurements separated by a minimum of 15 seconds without moving your arm. Then throw out any obvious flier and average the remainders. If possible take the product to the doctors office and compare it with reading taking using the traditional stethoscope/sphygmomanometer (ausculatory) measurement. This device uses an oscillometric method that depends on a software algorithm. Such algorithms are not always accurate for all people under all conditions. For instance, if you suffer any type of arrythmia, they can give erroneous readings.With proper care, this instrument can be useful, but should not be trusted for more than a casual indication of what your BP may be.

I am very pleased with the workmanship and materials used to create this sphygmomanometer and cuff which was assembled, inspected and packaged in the USA. You get a one year warranty on all parts and a lifetime manometer calibration warranty. There seems little reason to buy a cheaper, lower quality product that you will have to have calibrated in a a few months or just plain replace. The unit works find but once you insert the batteries, unlike my other unit, it does not have an off button and therefore have inflated in the carrying case on its own when placed in a position that causes the start button to be depressed.My other unit, not a Life Source, has an on/off button and a start button and has never accidentally turn on.Also, the clock stays on when the unit is not being used. This is a major draw on the battery function. The only other option for use of this machine is to use the AC adapter and plug in and unplug the unit whenever use it required.(Personally, I would prefer an on/off button or switch in order to prevent the case of the inadvertent inflation of the cuff.)

PROS: This unit has a sturdy, stable base that sits nicely on a desk or table and doesn't move around while the cuff is put in place. We especially like the feature allowing more than one user to take pressures & maintain histories. The digital display is easy to read and indicates how your blood pressure compares to established health guidelines. The zippered travel case is a handy feature for those on the go. We have taken our monitor to the doctor to compare its readings with the doctor's monitor and they were nearly identical. We were amazed at the accuracy of this home monitor!

CONS: The only thing we had difficulty getting used to was the way the cuff is applied on the arm. It applies in the opposite direction from a monitor we had been using previously, causing us to put the cuff on upside down. Our adjustment issue might have more to do with us switching monitors than it does a flaw with this monitor's design. It just seems that the arm cuff application for this monitor is counter-intuitive.

OVERALL: This monitor is a great value, providing many features for a low price.

I kept getting "Error 3" which means it couldn't get a reading. My wife was getting readings, and hidden in the back of the specifications was the fact that the largest wrist circumference it can handle is 7.7". So I measured my wrist and it's 8" or even a little more.So, it might be a great product but I had to return it since it's useless for me.

I pruchased this wrist blood pressure reader for a trip so I wouldn't have to take my big one. It seems to read slightly higher than my arm monitor, but nothing I can't deal with. The position you are in really makes a difference in its' reading, but once you learn it's little differences, its' very convenient and easy to use. I know Homedics is a good brand, so I felt comfortable ordering this and was not dissappointed. I will continue to use this and put my arm one away. The travel case is a big plus - not mentioned in the product description that I can remember, but I knew it was there from a previous review. Very Happy with my purchase.

I got this for my mother, who is not technologically savvy, and she was able to take her own blood pressure after only showing her a couple of times, which is a testament for the ease of use of this product. seems to be well made, and accurate, although i had nothing to reference it against. it was a bit particular about the position of your arm while taking the reading; if it wasn't at the exact level of your heart, it would return an error, but id rather that than an inaccurate reading. i would recommend this to anyone that needs to keep an eye on their blood pressure in between doctor visits.

I took this Panasonic EW31225 to my doctor and it was exactly with the same pressure my doctor got with his manual test. It is quiet and easy to use, but does take a bit to get use to putting the arm band on. It is also hard to plug in the hose in the back of the unit, but that is the only problem I have had with it. I am surprised that they can make such a quality product for such a resonable price.

Your blood pressure changes a lot from day to day, and even from minute to minute depending on what you're doing. Getting a single reading from your doctor once or twice per year is not sufficient. I bought this monitor after much research on the net of BP monitors. The No#1 complaint I read about electronic monitors is their lack of accuracy. I bought the Lifesource Mod# UA-853ACP based on the reviews I read of it here and else where.I had mine four days and took it to my Doctor to compair it's readings in a SbS test with the Doctors manual BP monitor. In a space of 90 minuets the nurse took six reading and much to my compleate disapointment the Lifesource BP monitor was consistantly of average 15 points to high. The manual BP monitor was reading my BP at around 128/30 and the Lifesource would read a BP of 145/90. I then had a family friend who is also a RN do a second SbS test same as above, and again the Lifesource gave consistantly high measurements. I will add one thing my doctor as well as my friend the nurse both said. This model Lifesource monitor comes with two different sized arm cuffs. One for SM-MD sized arms and one for LG-XL sized arms. As it turned out the SM-MD cuff was dead on the line of being to small and the LG-XL cuff was also dead on the line for being to large. Both my Dr. and my friend the nurse said the fit problem was most likely the sorce of my problem as my arm measures 15.5" around as it did give accurate BP readings of my wife who the SM-LG cuff fit perfectly. So bottom line if your arm measures in the 15-16" range you might want to consider a different BP monitor or at least try a BP monitor on for size if you can before you buy.

The Lifesource UA-853ACP seems to be fairly accurate, but I did have a problem with one of the memory features. The manual states that by pressing the memory button before the auto shut-off, that particular reading would not be memorized. This isn't a crucial function, but I feel it is of value. There are times when you might want to measure pressure under unusual circumstances, such as after exercise or while stressed, that will skew averages, so these readings should be deleted. However, this function didn't work with mine so I had it replaced. Amazon was great and immediately sent one, plus return shipping. I had both units for a few days and the second had the same problem, which means either the function is no longer supported or there is a bad batch. I decided to keep a spreadsheet so this issue is no longer a factor, but it is annoying that the unit doesn't work as the manual suggests it should. Other than this one issue, I do like the unit.

After a couple of months of use the unit is meeting all my expectations. It is easy-to-use, appears to be accurate, and above all is helping me understand what environments induce stress for me. There's nothing like being able to see what your bp is when enjoying a nice conversation or awaiting a business conference call. The differences are an order of magnitude greater than I ever would have expected. At the price point of this unit there is no excuse for every home not to have one, because it makes so much more sense to manage the conditions that lead to high blood pressure than to get on the pill-pusher's train.

I am a professional and I like this product because it saves a lot of time and is fairly accurate if used per instructions. I have to take vital signs on at least eight people each day and with the aid of this device I can do this in a timely manner. For best accuracy, the monitor must be held at heart level.

Horribly inconsistent and inaccurate. Fluctuates 40+ points almost every reading for both me and my spouse. Gave up and got different monitor with a arm band, it works wonderfully. This is too important of a reading to save a few dollars on! There are $50 monitors that work wonderfully, get one of those instead.

As earlier reviews have stated, this monitor is accurate and comfortable. The only drawback is its bulk. However, this might be an advantage since you can not easily put it away and out of sight like a wrist unit or a wrap around to be forgotten. Instead, it will be "out there" and you will be more likely to check your pressure when appropriate.

I have been an RN for over 20 years now, and I am often asked by patients what is the best Blood pressure machine for home? My father, and mother in law, and myself all have high blood pressure and are on medication for this. I have purchased one of these machines for all 3 of our families. I had tried a couple other ones, but found them to be in accurate and at times difficult to use. This machine is simple to use. It is very accurate. I have tested it many times with our high tech blood pressure machines at the hospital. The fact that it can store a history of your blood pressures is so valuable. Take it with you to your doctors appointments and it helps your practitioner to know how to better manage your hypertension. Love this machine.

I had an older product that was fairly accurate but produces slightly different reading as the test is repeated. The Panasonic showed more consistent results. The design eliminates cuff problems with other traditional devices.

The device is very convenient in that it takes the BP fast and efficiently, along with the pulse rate. The ability to use both a wall jack, or batteries is a great feature. The only downfall I have noticed is that the readings tend to be slightly low, but not enough to deter me from using the product. Overall, a great item.

The reason I rated this at "3" is because of the easy-fit cuff. It's not that easy...it has a piece of curved plastic built into it to make it easier to wrap around your arm, I guess. However, I find it more difficult. I have the regular fit cuff that comes with the package, which is normally the size I use. But the built-in plastic piece does not bend that easily, so getting the cuff to wrap and secure is a little more difficult/requires more patience. I would think people with arthritus in their hands/fingers would find this even more of a problem.

I purchased this monitor for 2 older patients (70's-80's) that have no medical knowledge at all. They found it to be very easy to use. The cuff was comfortable, the numbers were big enough to read without glasses, and it comes with an AC adapter. It seems that a lot of people like to be able to use the monitor without having to buy batteries. I would recommend it to anyone.
